Deep Hole Boring

With our state-of-the-art machinery, Techman can bore to full length depths of 12m maintaining concentricity of up to 0.1mm using the latest in boring head technology.

Techman deep hole boring processes use specialised drilling heads on a long drill tube to produce deep holes in most metals including Inconel’s, Duplex and other Super Alloys. This process is particularly important in the oil and gas, nuclear and defense industries where precision holes are required in difficult to machine metals.
Techman can produce holes with a diameter of Ø20mm up to Ø180mm to depths of 12m.
Work piece from Ø50mm to Ø450mm.

Techman utilises the latest in drilling tool technology which uses multiple cutting surfaces on a single tool to remove chips efficiently, exhausting them using high-pressure coolant through holes in the tool head, then out the drill tube and through the machining spindle.
Techman offers high precision deep hole boring from either simple through holes to complex counter bores or form details and hold limits of ±0.05mm.

With our state-of-the-art machinery, Techman can bore to full length depths of 12m maintaining concentricity of up to 0.1mm using the latest in boring head technology, vibration damping and bar counter rotation, while the trajectory of the hole is monitored with specialised ultrasonic technology.

Techman’s boring processes lead the industry in performance. In addition to achieving tight tolerances, Techman can achieve surface finishes up to 63 CLA on long bores and 32 CLA on short bores.
