Manual Hardfacing

Techman engineering is a company that can offer a full range of hard facing systems in-house and on products up to 10m long in their Hard facing Centre of Excellence.

These processes range from manually applied cutting carbide, through HF3000 tiles, these are dye-pen tested to A.S.T.M. E1220 and ultra sonic tested to AS.T.M. IX. Techman also offer weld processes and repairs in MIG, MMA AND GTAW. Temperature recordings throughout any process.

HF 1000

Crushed tungsten carbide held in a nickel bronze matrix. The 3mm grain size ensures greater concentration of carbide which is ideal for soft formation drilling.

HF 2000

Trapezoidal tungsten carbide inserts held in a sintered carbide nickel bronze matrix. This will give a greater depth of carbide coverage - ideal for high deviation drilling in abrasive formations.


The “industry standard in stabilizer hard facing”

Tungsten Carbide inserts are set in a nickel powder spray deposit. 97% bonding is guaranteed, certified by ultrasonic report.

This hard facing is recommended for non-magnetic, carbon steel equipment.

Applied by oxy-acetylene process.

Hardness levels of carbide 1100 / 1300 HV

HF 4000

Tungsten carbide inserts (button type). The inserts have been developed to allow cold insertion and maintain close fit. A greater concentration of inserts on the bottom third of the blade and leading edge will increase surface contact to reduce wear in highly abrasive formations.


Tough Tungsten Carbide particles are held in a nickel matrix. Excellent bonding and surface wear characteristics are achieved with this process.

Another feature of this hard facing is the ease of refurbishment.

Applied by oxy-acetylene process.

Hardness levels of carbide 1800 / 2200 HV
